HUMBOLDT – Rain will continue today and through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Most of today’s rain will take place in the afternoon and evening, with wind increasing to 10 to 20 mph.
The forecast includes rain through the middle of next week, good news for drought-parched Humboldt.
The NWS at Woodley Island measured .47 of an inch on Wedensday. The Mad River Union’s Manila pluviometer measured .63 of an inch.
Rainfall measurements vary depending on where they are taken. As you can see on this link, the airport in McKinleyville measured significantly more rain than Woodley Island.
The total for the season, which began on July 1, is 8.70 inches as of midnight at Woodley in Eureka. Normal for this time of year is 25.98 inches. Last year was 23.90.
Sunset tonight is at 5:47 p.m. Sunrise on Valentine’s Day is at 7:12 a.m. Friday will also feasture a full moon somewhere behind the clouds.
