Donut dispute escalates into attempted robbery

EUREKA – On Nov. 14, 2021, at about 6:42 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a grocery store on the 2500 block of Harris Street, in the county’s jurisdiction of Eureka, for the report of an attempted robbery.

According to a store clerk, an unknown male entered a checkout line with a half-eaten donut taken from the store. The male refused to pay for the donut, brandished a firearm at the store clerk and demanded cash from the register. The store clerk denied the suspect’s request and the suspect fled the store.

The suspect is described as a white male adult, approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, a navy hat, black gloves and jeans.
