EUREKA – Redwood Art Association Gallery is hosting a Terry Miura Gouache Workshop on Friday to Sunday, May 19 to May 21.
Gouache may best be described as opaque watercolor, and is a great sketching medium, both for plein air and in-studio studies, thanks to its unique characteristics. The setup is more compact and much less messy than oils.
You may have noticed a resurgence in the popularity of gouache on social media, and be curious enough to try it. This can be a difficult medium to control. In this workshop, Miura will break down the quirks and characteristics of this medium, and show you exactly what you need to do to overcome these obstacles, helping you to “tame the gouache beast.
In this workshop Terry Miura will help you get to know the medium by working indoors in a controlled environment using photo references. Once you gain command of the medium, it may become your favorite sketching medium both indoors and Plein air. This workshop will be held inside the RAA Gallery. Members and non-members are welcome.
The cost of this three-day workshop is $450 for members and $475 for non-members. You may choose to join the RAA Gallery and save on this workshop while you enjoy the benefits of membership in this non-profit organization and have the opportunity to show your art in one of our many exhibitions.
The workshop will begin May 19 at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Lunch is not included. The Redwood Art Association Gallery is located at 603 F St.,Eureka.
