McKINLEYVILLE – The McKinleyville Community Services District Board of Directors will swear in a new member, honor a local institution and review plans for a BMX track its meeting today, Dec. 7 starting at 7 p.m. at Azalea Hall, 1620 Pickett Rd. in McKinleyville.

James Biteman will take the oath of office and join the board, taking the place of Joellen Clark-Peterson, who decided not to seek another term. Biteman joins David Couch, Dennis Mayo, Scott Binder and Greg Orsini on the five-member board.

Lesley Frisbee, the MCSD’s Parks & Recreation Director, will present the Community Builder Award to the McKinleyville Family Resource Center, which has been providing resources and support to McKinleyville Families since 2002.

The board will also review preliminary designs for the BMX track and park proposed for district property near School Road and Washington Avenue.

The designs, created by the Melton Design Group, include a BMX track with bleachers, a playground for children two to five years old and a separate playground for children five to 12 years old, a basketball court, two pickleball courts, a covered picnic area, restrooms, a perimeter walking trail, edible and native landscaping and 50 parking spaces.
